Tokyo Milonga: The concept

Many overseas milongas are relaxed, inexpensive events. People go to dance tango and have a good time. Entry is usually no more than 1,000 yen. We started Tokyo Milonga, because we felt there was a need for something similar in Tokyo.

There are no dazzling demos, gourmet meals, or live music performances at Tokyo Milonga. Instead, we offer a low-cost milonga in a stylish downtown location. Instead of a full-course dinner, as it were, Tokyo Milonga is your local diner.

It is the people who make all the difference to a milonga. Irresponsible as it may sound, it is the support of tangueros and tangueras that makes a milonga thrive and prosper, not the organizer. We named our event Tokyo Milonga with the ambitious goal of creating a simple, lively, and relaxed dance like many overseas milongas – a social event that attracts the typical, sophisticated Tokyoite.

Tokyo Milongaのコンセプト

　海外のミロンガを訪ねると、安くて気軽に踊りを楽しめる場所が多いことを羨ましく思います。料金はどこも１０００円程度ですし、誰もが楽しめる開かれた雰囲気が漂っています。日本にもそんな場所があったら、というのがミロンガを始める原点になりました。

　華麗なデモも、美味しい食事も、豪華な生演奏もありません。その代わり、都心の好立地に安価なミロンガをご用意しました。フルコースのディナーも捨てがたいですが、街の定食屋のようなミロンガも、あってもいいのではないでしょうか。

　しかし、「仏作って魂入れず」という諺がある通り、ミロンガで最も大切なのは、そこに集う人々です。主催者として他力本願に過ぎるかもしれませんが、参加者の愛情こそが、ミロンガを育みます。海外のミロンガのように、シンプルだけど、活気があって寛げる、そんな東京を代表する大人の社交場にしたいという生意気な思いを込めて「Tokyo Milonga」と命名しました。

　産まれたばかりのミロンガですが、末永く可愛がって戴ければ幸いです。どうぞ宜しくお願いします。

～Tokyo Milongaからの３つのお約束～

①踊る時間を大切にします

　限られた短い時間で踊りを最大限に楽しんで戴くため、デモやイベント告知の時間は設けません。告知などはフライヤをお持ち下さい。

②誰もが楽しめる空間に

　ミロンガに踊りを楽しみにきていることにおいて、プロもアマチュアも、上級者も初心者もありません。料金もプロアマを問わず、同一とさせて戴きます。濫発は歓迎しませんが、誰もが踊らない権利を有しており、プロといえども同じ料金を支払う参加者の一人、踊ってもらって当然ではありません。参加者がお互いに敬意を払い、楽しい空間づくりにご協力下さい。

③積極的に情報を発信

　ミロンガ参加者にとって一番の関心事は、どんな人が、どれくらい来ているかに尽きるのではないでしょうか。当ミロンガでは、開催後の詳細なレポートとともに、参加者の素顔に迫るインタビューなどのコンテンツを随時掲載していく予定です。ご期待下さい。
