第５１回ミロンガ開催のご報告

　２０１１年８月１２日（金）午後６時３０分から午後９時３０分まで、第５１回目のTokyo Milongaを中目黒ＧＴプラザホール（目黒区）で開きました。曇りがちの天気でしたが、暑さ真っ盛りの中での開催となりました。参加者数は男性４２人、女性４７人の計８９人（男性比率４７・２％）。過去５１回の累計参加者は３９４０人、１回当たりの平均が７７・３人、男性比率は４９・０％でした。直近５回の参加者数は１回当たりの平均が９１・２人となっています。

　選曲はShino Bさんが久しぶりに担当しました。「今回の選曲はリードをする男性（および少数の女性）に捧げます。イメージは大ベテランの黒人ジャズシンガー、アルバータ・ハンター (Alberta Hunter、コルティナに登場します） が８０代で録音した名曲『My Handy Man』にちなんで「使える男」です。タンゴって素敵ですね。すべての男性を、女性を楽しませ、ともに音楽と二度とないひと時を共有する「使える男」に変身させてしまいます。そのためには音楽を味わい、パートナーとしっかり向き合い、フロアの流れを乱さずに、全体に溶け込むようなリードを心掛けたいですね。いつもと同様に後半にタンゴ・ヌエボを１タンダ入れる予定です。ヌエボを踊りたい方も是非来て下さい」（Shino Bさん）。

　すでに夏期休暇に入っておられる方も少なくないようで、毎回のように参加されている方が休まれたり、逆に普段は来られない方がお越し戴いたりと、参加者の顔ぶれがいつもと異なっているように感じました。また、今回からライブな選曲にこだわったＤＪ体制に移行しました。従来はミロンガ前に３時間分の楽曲をすべて用意し、そのまま流すこともありましたが、今後はライブな選曲にこだわることで、さらに楽しいミロンガを目指す試みです。Shino Bさんにとって初のライブな選曲ということで緊張感もあったようですが、無事に３時間を締めくくってくれました。残り４回もこだわりの選曲をお届けします。

　次回のTokyo Milongaは８月２５日（木）です。選曲はmilonguera tomokoさんが担当します。会場は中目黒ＧＴプラザホール。多くの皆さんのお越しをお待ちしております。

　猛暑の中ちょっとけだるい雰囲気で始まった、夏期休暇中のTokyo Milonga。少しでも涼しさを感じられるように、北極・南極を舞台とするビデオ２本を上映しました。童心に帰ってHappy Feetを楽しまれた方もいらしたようです。最初から最後までのライブ選曲は不慣れなため、やや中途半端に終わってしまった感がありますが、「良かった」というコメントも戴きました。有難うございます。会場のスピーカーの音量が低めに設定されており、音楽がよく聞こえない時もあり、迷惑をおかけしました。これからもライブ選曲の経験を積み、常に最適の選曲をお届けできるように精進しますので、次回もよろしくお願いします。

Report: 51st Tokyo Milonga

The 51st Tokyo Milonga took place on Friday, August 12 at Nakameguro GT Hall, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. It was cloudy, but a very hot day. Attendance totaled 42 men and 47 women for a total of 89 dancers (47.2% men). Total attendance to date is 3,940, with an average of 77.3 per milonga (49.0% men). Average attendance for the last five milongas is 91.2.

DJ Shino B was back for the 51st Tokyo Milonga. Her theme was “My Handy Man” taken from the song by jazz singer Alberta Hunter. Her message: “Tango is amazing, because it turns every guy into “my handy man” who can give ladies a good time and share the music and a magic “never again” moment with them. As usual I plan to include a tango nuevo tanda in the second half.”

It was interesting to note the absence of some regulars and some new people attending because of the summer vacation. We also switched fully to a live DJ-ing policy. Shino B was perhaps a little nervous about doing this for the first time, but she managed to keep the show on the road for three hours without a hitch. Please look forward to four more milongas with live DJ-ing.

The next Tokyo Milonga is on Thursday, August 25 at our usual venue Nakameguro GT Hall with DJ milonguera tomoko. We look forward to seeing you!

The 51st Tokyo Milonga was held on a hot, sultry day during the summer vacation. We screened two videos set in the North and South Pole so that people might feel a bit cooler. I noticed some people watching Happy Feet with childlike enjoyment! I felt a bit constrained in my first attempt at live DJ-ing from beginning to end, but received some positive feedback from dancers, which is always nice. We apologize for the music not being loud enough at times because of the volume setting at the venue. I want to learn from this and future experiences of live DJ-ing so that I can always select the best music for each stage of a milonga. Thanks to everyone who attended, and look forward to seeing you again soon!
