差し入れについてのお願い

　日頃はTokyo Milongaをご愛顧戴き、誠に有難うございます。気象庁は例年より早く５月２７日に関東甲信地方の梅雨入りを宣言、今後は湿度の高い日々が続きます。また、梅雨が明けると夏が本格化します。

　Tokyo Milongaでは毎回、多くの差し入れを戴いておりますが、電力供給の不足による衛生状態の悪化も懸念される中、食中毒などの対策に万全を期すため、次回（６月１０日開催）から９月末までの４カ月間は常温で保存可能な飲食物を除き、ミロンガでの提供を控えさせて戴くことになりました。差し入れを戴ける場合は、ご配慮戴けましたら幸いです。お手数おかけしますが、皆さんのご理解とご協力、何卒よろしくお願いします。

Thank you to everyone who attends Tokyo Milonga regularly. The Meteorological Agency announced that the rainy season started in the Kanto Koshinetsu region on May 27, earlier than normal. There will be many humid days from now on, and summer begins in earnest when the rainy season is over.

Many people bring food and drink to share. We ask that for the next four months (June?September) you only bring food and beverages that can be preserved at room temperature. Food hygiene is a serious concern in a summer with a potential power shortage, which increases the risk of food poisoning. Thank you for your cooperation.

募金総額が２０万円を突破しました（Tokyo Milongaの社会貢献活動）

　Tokyo Milongaは安心で快適なミロンガを提供することに加えて、タンゴを通じて少しでも社会に貢献していければ、と考えています。募金も大切な活動の一環と考えており、ミロンガの開始当初から下記のような募金の実績を積み重ねてきました。今後も環境配慮などを含めてＳＲ（社会的責任：Social Responsibility）の観点からも、皆さんの協力のもと、Tokyo Milongaとして社会貢献活動に積極的に取り組んでいきます（これまでの募金総額は２０万４９０９円）。

Tokyo Milonga aims to give something back to the community through tango in addition to holding safe and pleasant milongas. We consider charity donations to be an important part of our program of activities and made our first donation after our second milonga. As a group of socially responsible citizens, Tokyo Milonga will continue to take an active role in community service, including environmental programs. To date we have donated a total of 204,909 yen raised at our milongas to the following causes: 

1) 3,150 yen to UNICEF Japan for the Haiti earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds from the second Tokyo Milonga, January 22, 2010)

2) 4,320 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society for the Chile Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds from the fifth Tokyo Milonga, March 15, 2010)

3) 14,520 yen to Airinkai to be spent on Meguro Wakabaryo, a children’s home in Meguro-ku, Tokyo (10% of proceeds + DJ fee + donations from the 37th Tokyo Milonga, February 23, 2011)

4) 16,060 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds + donations from the 40th Tokyo Milonga, March 24, 2011)

5) Great East Japan Earthquake fundraising milonga, March 30, 2011. Donated 119,339 yen (all proceeds + donations) to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund.

6) 7,520 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds from the 41th Tokyo Milonga, April 7, 2011)

7) 6,400 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds from the 42th Tokyo Milonga, April 13, 2011)

8) 7,120 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds from the 43th Tokyo Milonga, April 27, 2011)

9) 13,240 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Great East Japan Earthquake relief fund (10% of proceeds + DJ fee from the 44th Tokyo Milonga, May 6, 2011)

御礼（児童養護施設に対する募金２）

　５月２５日に開いた第４５回のTokyo Milongaは、当日にＤＪを務めたShino Bさんの提案で「タイガーマスク・ミロンガ」として開催し、収益の一部を児童養護施設に寄付をさせて戴きました。寄付したのは、入場料の１割（主催者やスタッフ含む１０３人×８０円＝８２４０円）とＤＪ料全額（５０００円）の合計１万３２４０円です。寄付する先は、会場近くの施設ということで、社会福祉法人愛隣会が運営する児童養護施設「目黒若葉寮」（東京都目黒区）を選びました。５月２７日に郵便局から寄付金を振り込みました。第３７回のTokyo Milonga（２月２３日開催）でも同様の募金をしており、児童養護施設に対する募金合計は２万７７６０円となりました。この度は皆さまのご協力、有難うございました。

第４５回ミロンガ開催のご報告

　２０１１年５月２５日（水）午後６時３０分から午後９時３０分まで、第４５回目のTokyo Milongaを中目黒ＧＴプラザホール（目黒区）で開きました。最近は雨が多い中、久し振りの快晴の日に開催することができました。ミロンガ開始直後から続々と参加者が来場し、会場は活気に包まれました。最終的には男性５０人、女性５３人の計１０３人（男性比率４８・５％）の皆さんにご来場戴きました。前回とまったく同じ人数で過去最大の参加者数を記録しました。平日の夜開催ながら、お陰様で２回連続で１００人を突破することができました。過去４５回の累計参加者は３３９３人、１回当たりの平均が７５・４人、男性比率は４８・８％です。直近５回の参加者数は１回当たりの平均が９３・８人となっています。

　ことし２月の第３７回に続き、Shino Bさんの発案で「タイガーマスク・ミロンガ」と題して開催しました。選曲はShino Bさんが『Cute & Catchy』をテーマに行いました。「今回はタイガーマスク・ミロンガの第２弾として、目黒区の児童養護施設目黒若葉寮で暮らす子供たちに元気を届けるため、思わず笑顔がこぼれるような選曲をめざします」（Shino Bさん）。今回は「タイガーマスク・ミロンガ」として、参加費の１割（１０３人×８０円＝８２４０円）とＤＪ料の全額（５０００円）の合計１万３２４０円を、児童養護施設「目黒若葉寮」（東京都目黒区）に寄付します。後日、Shino Bさん自身が施設を訪れ、募金を手渡す予定です。寄付が終わった段階で改めて結果を報告させて戴きます。

　今回も食べ物やワインなど多くの差し入れを戴き、有難うございました。また、節電のために施設の冷房が強くならず、参加者の皆さんに暑い思いをさせてしまい、申し訳なく思っております。施設運営者によると、当面は冷房を強くできないということですので、ミロンガにはぜひ軽装にてお出かけ下さい。このほか、今回は新たな試みとして、受付や飲食エリアと踊りのスペースを分けるテーブルを設けました。踊る空間が若干狭くはなりますが、安心して踊れることに加えて、飲食スペースから自席に戻るため、ダンスフロアを横切る人が減るなどの効果もあったことから、これからも継続する予定です。

　次回のTokyo Milongaは６月１０日（金）の開催です。会場は中目黒ＧＴプラザホール。選曲はmilonguera tomokoさんが担当します。milonguera tomokoさんを含め、６月生まれのお誕生日祝いのケーキも提供できればと考えております。多くの皆さんのお越しをお待ちしております。

　無邪気な子供の日々をイメージした選曲とアニメのＤＶＤを皆様楽しんでいただけたでしょうか。オルタナティブ(Enrique Rodriguez)とヌエボの各タンダにも挑戦して戴き、有難うございました。２児の母であるニュージーランドの先輩ＤＪ、ニーナが提案したDonato Racciattiのタンゴのタンダを初めて組み入れました。会場には和やかな雰囲気が漂い、笑顔が多くみられて嬉しかったです。

Report: The 45th Tokyo Milonga

The 45th Tokyo Milonga took place at Nakameguro GT Plaza Hall in Meguro-ku, Tokyo from 18:30?21:30 on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. It turned out to be a sunny day after a week or so of wet weather. It was a busy night. A constant stream of people arrived as soon as the doors opened and once again attendance was a record 103 (50 men and 53 women; 48.5% men), topping 100 for the second consecutive month even though it was midweek. Total attendance of the 45 Tokyo Milongas comes to 3,393, with an average of 75.4 per milonga, of whom 48.8% are men. Average attendance at the past five milongas is 93.8.

In February we ran the 37th Tokyo Milonga as a “Tiger Mask Milonga” and made a donation to Meguro Wakabaryo, a local children’s home. The 45th Tokyo Milonga was the second in the series. Shino B’s theme was Cute & Catchy. She selected songs that bring a smile to your face to send a message of encouragement to the kids living the home. We will donate 10% of the entry fee (103 x 80 = 8,240 yen) plus the 5,000 yen DJ fee totaling 13,240 yen to Meguro Wakabaryo. Shino B will deliver the donation to the home in person.

Thanks as always to everyone who brought food and wine to share. We’re sorry that we couldn’t have the air-conditioning on at a lower temperature because of power-saving measures adopted by the facility. The management says that they are unable to lower the temperature for the time being because of the anticipated summer power shortage. Please wear lightweight summer clothing to our milongas from now on.

We tried a new layout of separating the dance floor and food & drink area with tables. We will keep this layout from now on. Although it makes the dance floor marginally smaller, it is safer for dancers and discourages people from crossing the floor to move between their seat and the food table.

The next Tokyo Milonga is on Friday, June 11 at Nakameguro GT Hall, with DJ milonguera tomoko. We will be celebrating June birthdays, including the DJ’s, with a birthday cake. We look forward to seeing you!

I hope you all enjoyed the playlist and anime DVDs in keeping with the theme of the carefree days of childhood. Well done to everyone who had a go at dancing the alternative (Enrique Rodriguez) and nuevo tandas! I included a tanda by Donato Racciatti for the first time at the suggestion of my friend Nina, a mother of two and a fellow DJ in New Zealand. There was a happy, relaxed atmosphere at the venue and I was delighted to see so many smiling faces.

御礼（東日本大震災に対する義援金その６）

　５月６日開催の第４４回Tokyo Milongaに参加いただき、有難うございました。すでに記載しました通り、今回は参加費の１割と、ＤＪ　Ｋｏさんからの善意でＤＪ料全額（５０００円）を東日本大震災に対する義援金として、日本赤十字社を通じて募金させて戴きます。主催関係者を含め、１０３人の方に参加いただいたことから、参加費の１割として８２４０円とＤＪ料５０００円の１万３２４０円を、５月９日付けで日本赤十字社に振り込みました。３月２４日開催分として１万６０６０円、３月３０日開催分として１１万９３３９円、４月７日開催分として７５２０円、４月１３日開催分として６４００円、４月２７日開催分として７１２０円を同様に募金したことから、Tokyo Milongaとしての東日本大震災に対する義援金合計は１６万９６７９円になりました。皆さまにはご協力いただき、誠に有難うございました。被災地の復興に少しでも役立ってくれればと願っております。Tokyo Milongaは、今後も継続して募金活動を行っていく予定です。

Thank you to everyone who attended the 44th Tokyo Milonga on May 6. At DJ Ko’s request, we donated his 5,000 yen DJ fee and 10% of the entry fee totaling 8,240 yen (103 yen x 80) for a total of 13,240 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society’s Great East Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. We made the bank transfer to the Red Cross on May 9. To date, Tokyo Milonga has donated 169,679 yen to the earthquake relief fund - 16,060 yen from the proceeds of the March 24 milonga, 119,339 yen raised at the March 30 milonga, 7,520 yen from the proceeds of the April 7 milonga, 6,400 yen from the proceeds of the April 13 milonga, 7,120 yen from the April 27 milonga, and 13,240 yen from New York Night. Thank you again for helping us to do what we can for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. We will continue to donate a percentage of our entry fee to the Red Cross.

第４４回ミロンガ開催のご報告

　２０１１年５月６日（金）午後６時３０分から午後９時３０分まで、第４４回目のTokyo Milongaを中目黒ＧＴプラザホール（目黒区）で開きました。ゴールデンウィークの後半、３連休後の金曜日の開催でした。天気は朝から曇。１８時２０分頃から参加者が詰めかけ、７時段階ではすでに５０人を突破しました。最終的には男性５１人、女性５２人の計１０３人（男性比率４９・５％）の皆さんにご来場戴きました。第２２回（２０１０年９月２日開催）の１０２人を抜き、過去最高の参加者数を記録しました。１００人突破は２回目となります（Grand Tokyo Milongaと震災復興チャリティー・ミロンガは除く）。過去４４回の累計参加者は３２９０人、１回当たりの平均が７４・８人、男性比率は４８・８％です。直近５回の参加者数は１回当たりの平均が８９・６人となっています。

　『世界のミロンガ』シリーズ第３弾となる「ニューヨーク・ナイト」をお届けしました。ニューヨークでもっとも人気の高いミロンガ「milonga RoKo（ミロンガ・ロコ）」の主催者であり、ＤＪも務めるKo氏が、Tokyo Milongaのために選曲してくれたＣＤを使い、東京の皆さんにも”milonga RoKo”を体験して戴きました。選曲は、 ①タンゴ（Ｔ）４曲、ワルツ（Ｖ）とミロンガ（Ｍ）は各３曲のタンダ形式。タンダはＴＴＶＴＴＭ・・・と通常のTokyo Milongaと同様のスタイル、②各タンダは黄金期主体のスタンダードな選曲、③タンダ間のコルティナはバラエティーに富む、といったスタイルでした。 奇を衒わず、踊りやすい曲を集めながら、ところどころにアクセントを挟み、飽きさせない選曲は、参加者から「素晴らしかった」や「ミロンガ・ロコに行ってみたくなった」などの声を戴きました。Ko氏からは６時間分の選曲ＣＤを送ってもらっているため、機会があれば第２弾も検討できればと考えております。

　当日はニューヨークが舞台の映画２本を放映しました。また、今回の企画を実現してくれたＨさんが、ニューヨークにちなんで大量のホットドッグを用意してくれました。いつも有難うございます。今回は参加費の１割（１０３人×８０円＝８２４０円）に加えて、Ko氏からの希望でＤＪ料の全額（５０００円）の合計１万３２４０円を日本赤十字社に東日本大震災の義援金として募金します。ここで皆さんにお願いがあります。飲食テーブルの近くにピアノがありますが、くれぐれも飲み物などをピアノの上に置かないようにご配慮下さい。このほか、コップ、扇子、化粧ポーチの忘れ物がありました。お心当たりのある方はtango@tokyomilonga.comまでご連絡下さい。

ＤＪ　Ｋｏ
ニューヨーク在住。毎週日曜日にニューヨークで「milonga RoKo」を、ロビン・トーマス氏と共同で主催し、そのＤＪも務める。milonga RoKoは毎週開催しているミロンガでは北米最大のスケールを誇る。環境問題に対する関心も強く、東日本大震災の復興支援にも積極的に取り組んでいる。

Report: The 44th Tokyo Milonga

The 44th Tokyo Milonga took place at Nakameguro GT Plaza Hall in Meguro-ku, Tokyo from 18:30?21:30 on Friday, May 6, 2011, the Friday after the three-day Golden Week holiday. It was cloudy all day. People began arriving around 6:20pm, and we counted 50 people before 7pm. Attendance was a record 103 (51 men and 52 women). It is the second time that we had over 100 people at a milonga other than the Gran Tokyo Milonga and the earthquake relief fundraiser. Total attendance of the 44 Tokyo Milongas comes to 3,290, with an average of 74.8 per milonga, of whom 48.8% are men. Average attendance at the past five milongas is 89.6.

It was New York Night, the third in our Milongas of the World Series. We brought you a taste of milonga RoKo, the most popular milonga in New York. The playlist was a CD complied by DJ Ko, who runs milonga RoKo. The playlist format was the same as the basic Tokyo Milonga style of four tangos, three valses, and three milonga (TTV,TTM, etc.). The songs were all Golden Age standards, with a variety of cortinas breaking up the tandas. The playlist was a collection of mainstream, danceable songs with a bit of spice added now and again to keep dancers motivated. We received excellent feedback about the playlist, which made some people interested in going to New York to attend milonga RoKo! We are planning another New York night, because DJ Ko sent us six hours of music.

We screened two movies set in New York. A special thank you to H, who planned New York Night and served a huge plate of hot dogs to remind us of the theme. At DJ Ko’s request we donated his 5,000 yen fee and 10% of the entry fee (103 x 80 = 8,240 yen) totaling 13,240 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society Earthquake Relief Fund.

Going forward, we ask that you don’t put your drinks or any personal items on the piano, which is near the food table. A cup, fan, and cosmetics bag were left behind on Friday night. Please email tango@tokyomilonga.com if any of the items belong to you.
