第３８回ミロンガ開催のご報告

　２０１１年３月２日（水）午後６時３０分から午後９時３０分まで、第３８回目のTokyo Milongaを中目黒ＧＴプラザホール（目黒区）で開きました。前夜は冷たい雨が降っていましたが、朝までには上がり、曇り空の下での開催となりました。参加者数は男性３９人、女性４３人の計８２人（男性比率４７・６％）。過去３８回の累計参加者は２７６２人、１回当たりの平均が７２・７人、男性比率は４８・３％です。直近５回の参加者数は１回当たりの平均が８３・０人となっています。

　選曲は『春の兆し』をテーマに、サニーさんが担当しました。「当日は雛祭り・桃の節句の前日になります。ぼんぼりのやわらかい灯りに浮かぶ段々の雛飾りをイメージしながら、ふんわりと煌びやかに、春を先取りしてお送りします」（サニーさん）。映像も選曲のテーマと連動し、暖かみのある雰囲気を醸し出していました。

　数多くの差し入れを戴き、有難うございました。珈琲や紅茶、緑茶など温かい飲み物も好評を戴いております。今回は女性用の靴２足とマフラーの忘れ物がありました。お心当たりのある方は、tango@tokyomilonga.comまでご連絡下さい。

　次回のTokyo Milongaは３月１０日（木）の開催です。会場は中目黒ＧＴプラザホール。選曲は昨夏以来となるAsanoが担当します。多くの皆さんのお越しをお待ちしております。

外は冷え込んでいましたが、フロア内には活気が渦巻いていたようで、まさに春の先取り気分を感じることができました。最後の２タンダは、いつもより少々ドラマチックなものにしてみました。踊りやすさと、その他のさまざまな要素とのバランスは、なかなか難しいところですが、ミロンガの場全体が調和に満ちた空間になることをめざしていきたいと、感謝とともに改めて思いました。次回の選曲にもご期待下さい。

Report: The 38th Tokyo Milonga

The 38th Tokyo Milonga took place at Nakameguro GT Plaza Hall in Meguro-ku, Tokyo from 18:30–21:30 on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. It was cold and wet the night before, but the rain had stopped by morning, and the day was cloudy. There were 39 men and 43 women for a total of 82 dancers (47.6% men). This brings total attendance of the 38 Tokyo Milongas to 2,762 for an average of 72.7 per milonga, of whom 48.3% are men. Average attendance at the past five milongas is 83.0.

DJ Sunny’s theme was “Signs of Spring.” His message: “March 2 is the day before the Japanese Doll’s Festival (Hinamatsuri), when we celebrate girls and the beauty of peach blossoms. I chose songs with a hint of the coming spring that evokes the image of the dolls on a tiered stage lit by the gentle glow of paper lanterns.” The videos harmonized with the DJ’s theme, creating a warm and gentle atmosphere.

The next Tokyo Milonga will be held on Thursday, March 10 at Nakameguro GT Plaza Hall. DJ Asano is back for the first time since summer 2010. We look forward to seeing you all again.

The dance floor was full of energy despite the cold weather outside, and we could feel that spring was just around the corner. For the last two tandas, I chose songs that are a bit more dramatic than the ones I usually play. It’s difficult to strike a balance between choosing songs that are easy to dance to and those with various other qualities. It was gratifying to see the response on the dance floor, which reaffirmed my goal of making the milonga a harmonious space. I look forward to seeing you all again at my next session.
